It’s odd to think back to the time that I didn’t drink coffee. I used to detest the taste of the stuff. Even at the start of my time at Starbucks I didn’t really drink coffee. Sure, I had to go through the coffee tastings for training, but I didn’t actively consume it otherwise. When did it all change? I don’t know. It’s one of those things that happened gradually. Being close to it at work was certainly part of it. The other part, oh…that’s right…grad school. Hours and hours and hours of studying.

Regardless of whether it was out of proximity or necessity, I acquired the taste.  While I do have the rushed cup now and then, and I don’t have as many fresh pots as Dave Grohl, I much prefer the more relaxed version of sitting in a coffee shop. There, whether I’m alone or with company, I can take my time with things and enjoy the moment.
